Guess How Much I Love You: A great children’s book for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is coming and Kate (one of our Language Assistants) wanted to share one of her favorite books from when she was a child.

This is a cartoon version of the text on YouTube and is great for right before bedtime.

Don’t forget to tell everyone you love “I love you to the moon and back!” this Valentine’s Day!

Cambridge YLE Resources for Use at Home (Starters, Movers, Flyers)

As we begin the Cambridge Exam preparation season (with the required BEDA exam coming up on the 4th of March that is similar to the Starters Exam), here are some resources you can use at home. We will send out a translated Starters Vocabulary List to students in 2o of Primaria in the next few days so you can help prepare them as best you can.

Here at school our Language Assistants are using some of these resources themselves and have found them to be great tools in the classroom.

Check them out!

Cambridge also has some fun games you can play at home, so check them out here!

Finally, if you have an iPad, Cambridge has apps with Sample Papers (practice exams) for all Young Learners’ Exams available on the AppStore.

Christmas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Our five year-olds are hard at work for their performance on December 18th where they’re going to perform a version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. We’ve also put up a playlist from Super Simple Songs, one of our favorite groups around! Finally, we also have the song that the First Cycle of Primary will perform.

Get into the holiday spirit!

Getting ready for our Open House!

As you may already know, we are having an Open House on Tuesday 4 February at 17:30 (5:30 PM) at our school. We have been working hard in our Infantil and bilingual Primary School groups (1st and 2nd grades in the USA, 1st and 2nd years in the UK) on decorations in English for our beautiful holidays. Enjoy these photos!

Welcome to Our Blog!

Hello all,

The English Department at Colegio Fundación Santamarca in Madrid, Spain welcomes you to our English blog! This will be our showcase for all of our English-language programs from Infantil up until Secondary (ESO). We will have a combination of posts from students and teachers, written and visual.

My name is Katherine “Kate” Estabrook, the current Auxiliar de Conversación (Language Assistant) here at Fundación Santamarca. I hope to make a more formal introduction in a later post, but I am originally from New York City (the best and most important place in the USA) and I have jumped at the chance at helping to make the English blog a reality.

I encourage you all to subscribe to our blog via email to stay up-to-date on our new content, and leave comments and suggestions.

Happy reading!
